Designing for Accessibility: More Than Just a Requirement

I’ve been diving deeper into accessibility in our designs, and it’s eye-opening how often we overlook it. A recent project I worked on highlighted the importance of color contrast and text size, totally transforming the user experience for those with visual impairments. I’m curious — what tools or guidelines have you all found helpful in creating more accessible e-commerce sites?

I totally get what you’re saying about color contrast. In my last project, we used the Color Safe tool to ensure our palettes met accessibility standards, and it really helped our design pop for everyone. Just keep in mind that unique color combinations can still end up overlooked if the layout isn’t intuitive too.

It’s interesting how much small changes can make a difference… In my last project, we used high-contrast patterns for backgrounds and it felt like turning on the lights in a dim room! Tools like Axe have been helpful for checking not just colors but overall accessibility compliance, too. @samantha_smith21, have you tried any specific guidelines for alt text?
