Navigating remote UX design roles

I’ve been diving into remote opportunities in ecommerce UX design lately, and it’s been a mixed bag. Some companies really prioritize user experience and intuitive design, while others seem more focused on ticking boxes. Has anyone else noticed this trend? I’d love to hear what experiences others are having with remote roles in our field.

I totally relate to that — I’ve found that aligning with teams that really value design thinking makes a huge difference. A company’s commitment to user experience often comes through in their process and communication. Have you had any standout experiences with a particular team?

I’ve seen the same issue with companies focusing more on metrics than on actual user-centric design. It can be frustrating when you realize they’re just checking off boxes instead of fostering real innovation. Have you tried reaching out to smaller startups?

I think the focus on metrics over genuine user experience can be a deal breaker. When I worked on a project for a major ecommerce client, their insistence on A/B testing led us to overlook real user feedback. Have you tried any methods to better advocate for user-centered design during interviews?
